Instagram introduces ‘Rage Shake’ feature to report app problems

Instagram has reportedly introduced a ‘Rage Shake’ feature that allows users to shake their phones to report an issue with the app. The feature is currently available only in the United States for both Android and iOS users.

Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, explained the feature during the launch. He said that users can now shake their phone to pop up a little option that allows them to report a problem.

Once the users shake to report, they can explain the reason for the app not working and report the issue. Mosseri noted that this feature will help the company in prioritizing bugs and other fixable things in the app.

Apart from this, the company is introducing a feature where users will be able to delete single items from a carousel post comprising at least three videos or images. For those unversed, carousel posts can combine up to 10 videos and photos in one post.

With this update, users will be able to delete items from a current carousel. Notably, users cannot add photos or videos, reorder items, or replace one item for another in an existing carousel. Currently, the new feature is only available for iOS users with Android set to receive the update soon.

Mosseri has cited that the new option was a highly requested feature and should have been introduced a while ago. The company noted that many users want to maintain the overall carousel but intend to remove a certain photo or a video and the new feature will help users make their ideal carousel post.

These two launches come as the company has been rolling out multiple features over the past few weeks. Recently, it initiated testing for a new feature ‘Take a Break’, which enables users to remind themselves to take a break from the app after 10, 20, or 30 minutes of usage.

Instagram also introduced a new ‘Add Yours’ sticker that helps in creating public threads in Stories. The new feature enables users to respond to the Stories of other users with their own following a certain topic or prompt.
