Bentley to launch one electric car annually for five years from 2025

Earlier this year, Bentley had announced its entry into the electric vehicle space, with the its first full battery-powered luxury car scheduled for launch in 2025. However, unlike its close rival Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited, it doesn’t plan to stop at just one electric car.

The British luxury carmaker reportedly plans to launch one fully battery-powered luxury car every year from 2025 onwards a part of its five-in-five plan.

Bentley Motors’ CEO and Chairman, Adrian Hallmark, cited that the latest announcement by the automaker regarding the ‘Beyond 100’ plan confirms the major transformative phase in the firm’s illustrious history.

While the world is changing, Bentley needs to play its part in neutralizing the environmental impact by delivering end-to-end carbon-neutral vehicles by the year 2030 and reaffirm their position as the leader in sustainable luxury mobility, he added.

It is worth noting that Bentley had previously announced to invest USD 3.4 billion in sustainability over the next decade. In this context, Hallmark proclaimed their aim to become the benchmark beyond luxury cars or sustainability credentials to the entirety of their operations.

Bentley’s electric cars will be manufactured at Crewe facility in the U.K. To assemble electric vehicles, the facility will be reconfigured by extending on-site energy production and increasing the number of solar panels to 40,000 in the next two years. The carmaker also intends to use biofuel in fleet cars, including its heritage collection. Moreover, it will also ask suppliers to meet minimum sustainability standards.

Despite sharing its five-on-five plan, Bentley still hasn’t shared the details about its upcoming electric cars. On the other hand, Rolls Royce will unveil its electric car specter next year while Aston Martin Lagonda is planning on bringing the new era of electric cars for its buyers. Italian luxury sports car, Ferrari S.p.A., is also preparing for a debut the same year as Bentley’s first EV hits the public road.
