VC3 acquires Sophicity to strengthen its geographic footprint

VC3, the Columbia-based IT service company, has reportedly acquired Sophicity for an undisclosed amount to strengthen its geographic footprint across five additional states. The addition of this established firm will also help VC3 to serve more local governments.

Speaking on the acquisition, Sandy Reeser, CEO of VC3 said that this acquisition would strengthen the company’s capabilities to offer top-notch IT services to cities and towns in every state. The company is excited to expand its new collective service offerings into Kentucky, Connecticut, Iowa, Arkansas, and Oregon, he said.

Dave Mims, Founder, and CEO of Sophicity said that with continuous hard work and dedication toward supporting local government, the company profoundly impacted municipalities it serves.

This acquisition adds new capabilities and strengths to the company, allowing it to continue serving its municipalities as it does today, he said adding that he could not be more excited and sees a very bright future.

For the record, since its establishment in 1994, VC3 has been planning, managing, and implementing technology projects for both public as well as commercial clients.

On the other hand, Sophicity is one leading IT product and services providers to local governments. The company delivers cutting-edge IT services including computer maintenance, cybersecurity, 24×7 U.S.-based helpdesk for on-site as well as remote support, data backup, email, body camera, records and document management, and many others, to the U.S government.

According to sources, this is second VC3’s deal in the last one year. In Nov 2019, the company acquired masterIT, a Tennessee-based managed IT, service provider. The deal helped VC3 to expand its footprint from Columbia, South Carolina, into Mid-South and Memphis markets. This acquisition strengthened the company’s capabilities in cloud, voice, security, and application development to cater to organizations across Tennessee and Mid-south.
