Reportedly, Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart has hired around 23,000 new employees throughout India in the last three months in a bid to improve its supply chain processes. The recruits also involve some delivery executives.

Hemant Badri, the SVP of the Supply Chain at Flipkart, was quoted saying that the top priority is to meet the increasing demand of the customers through a safe and strong supply chain as well as with ensured safety of the employees.

The new employment opportunities were created primarily due to the growing demand for e-commerce services across India. Badri further claimed that all the relevant healthcare and wellness benefits will be extended to the new hires to ensure safety amid the ongoing pandemic.

If reports are to be believed, Flipkart is carrying out various training programs for all its staff that is directly hired for various aspects of the supply chain process. The company has been promoting COVID-19 safety regulations across all its warehouses as well as improving its driving behavior awareness.

The training of the new employees is being undertaken through a mix of digital and classroom sessions using several mobile applications such as WhatsApp, Hangout, and Zoom along with Flipkart’s personal Learning Management System.

To name a few, these training sessions will involve customer service, delivery of goods, installation and sanitation, and other safety measures. Flipkart is also focusing on training its staff regarding the handling of portable devices, scanners, PoS machines, ERPs, and various mobile applications.

The announcement reflects on Flipkart’s efforts of improving its grocery supply chain infrastructure to offer customers seamless access while ordering daily essentials. As a part of this plan, the Walmart-owned online retailer will add 8,00,000 square feet of space through five additional fulfillment centers in the upcoming three months.

This new infrastructure will allow the Indian e-commerce giant to cater to more users in Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Chennai, Kolkata, and Delhi. Moreover, the move will also enable Flipkart to cater to around 73,000 grocery orders per day.
